Award-winning rapper and actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson III recently joined Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and several regional leaders to introduce a new program that focuses on helping students at three Houston Independent School District (ISD) high schools.

50 Cent is partnering with Houston ISD, Horizon United and the G-Unity Foundation to launch the inaugural G-Star program at Wheatley, Worthing and Kashmere High School and donate $300,000 through the foundation to fund this program, ABC 13 News reported.

“As we sprint to create more opportunities in startups, technology and innovation, we also want to create additional opportunities for young people who’ll be the entrepreneurs, the scientists, the engineers and business leaders of the future,” Turner said in a May 17 Facebook Live video.

According to Turner, the G-Star program will offer students an opportunity to receive MBA-level business and entrepreneurship lessons taught at universities, Click2Houston reported.

“This program is another platform to help build the leaders and workforce of the future,” Turner said, according to Click2Houston. “Educational opportunities play a key role in Houston’s quality of life.”

Students will also have the opportunity to receive paid internships, as well as connect them with business leaders and even 50 Cent himself. The rapper said that this program has been in development for at least two years and that he hopes it will grow in the future.

“It’s starting at three schools now, but it’s going to be a lot more,” 50 Cent said. “Just watch me.”

More information about the program and how to donate can be found at Gunityfoundation.org.

Previously in December, 50 Cent also donated thousands of dollars worth of Christmas presents to be handed out to children at Toyota Center.

The rapper's recent arrival in Houston has caused quite a buzz, especially on social media, according to ABC 13 News. People created memes showing the Grammy-winning rapper at various landmarks throughout the city. He also received Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show in the International Wine Competition at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
