It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Therese Kavanaugh Ruhlin (Houston, Texas), born in Savannah, Georgia, who passed away on July 2, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Richard E. Kavanaugh, Sr. and Mary Barry Kavanaugh; her husband William Bradley Ruhlin (Bill); her daughter Melissa Marie Ruhlin; her grandsons, Robert Charles Ruhlin, Michael and Matthew Decker; and her brother Richard E. Kavanaugh, Jr..
She is survived by : her children, David (Evelyn Ruhlin), Kathleen (Bob Brennan), Kristina Decker of Richmond, TX, Bruce (Judy Ruhlin), Elizabeth (Tony Hartzell), Kurt (Amy Ruhlin), Michele (Grant Kenion), Barbara (John Verrett), Joseph (Brooke Ruhlin) and Eric (Dhenu Ruhlin); and her grandchildren, Alicia Gaither, Mary Brennan, Emily Brennan, Kerry Konczack, Brian Decker, Christopher Decker, Stephen Decker, Theresa Decker, Mike Ruhlin, Allison Klein, Jake Hartzell, Claire Ruhlin, Matthew Ruhlin, Gus Kenion, Bridget Kenion, Helen Kenion, William Verrett, Kelly Van Hoof, Colleen Verrett, Samuel Ruhlin, Rachel Ruhlin, Kathleen Ruhlin, Patrick Ruhlin and Jiya Ruhlin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6th 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Dettling Funeral Home (14094 Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77079). A rosary will be held on Thursday, July 6th 2023 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 7th 2023 at 10:30 AM at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church (625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079).
