Executive Steve Kennedy expressed delight in joining what he described as “a prestigious and reputable energy-focused organization” in Houston-based global business advisory firm Opportune, per a press release. Opportune said in the release it hired Kennedy as its new managing director.

“I am delighted to join such a prestigious and reputable energy-focused organization,” he said in the release. “As an energy banker, I worked with Opportune on many occasions over the last almost 20 years. That allowed me to see first-hand the firm's significant capabilities, as executed by its talented staff. I look forward to continuing my service to the energy sector via Opportune's platform and contributing to the firm's future success.”

Opportune works with various community partners, such as the Ronald McDonald House in Houston, Her Justice and the Texas Hearing Institute.

According to the firm, Kennedy came from Amegy Bank, where he previously worked for 25 years. The release said that Kennedy was an executive vice president and head of energy business banking at Amegy. Prior to Amegy, Opportune said, he managed energy banking portfolios at Wells Fargo and Bank One.

“We believe behind every challenge — no matter how significant — lies opportunity,” Opportune wrote on its website. “An opportunity to grow, to reevaluate, to better understand, and to add significant value. For almost 20 years, we have been the go-to global advisory partner for the Energy industry.”

Per Kennedy’s LinkedIn profile, he attended Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, before earning a bachelor’s degree in petroleum energy from Texas A&M University (TAMU) and a master’s of business administration (MBA) degree from Baylor University (BU).

Opportune managing partner David Baggett said in the release that he has known Kennedy for 20 years and is very familiar with the latter’s work and expertise, saying the firm’s clientele will benefit from his “vast experience and immense energy.”
