On Aug. 1, U.S. News & World Report recognized TIRR Memorial Hermann in Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC) as the best rehabilitation hospital in Texas for 2023-2024, according to a press release. According to Memorial Hermann’s website, TIRR serves as a teaching hospital for Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

"As innovative leaders in clinical care, research, education and advocacy, TIRR Memorial Hermann is honored to be recognized by physicians and U.S. News and World Report as a national leader for the 34th consecutive year," said Rhonda Abbott, senior vice president and CEO of TIRR Memorial Hermann, according to the press release. "We share this honor with our physicians, nurses, and staff who work each day to support patients in achieving their goals for physical, emotional and social recovery."

Five other Memorial Hermann institutions – namely, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital, Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center, and Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital – were also recognized by U.S. News, per the press release.

According to Houston Chronicle, TIRR, which stands for The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research, is a non-profit that has been a member of the TMC since 1959. The hospital serves patients who have experienced such health crises such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injuries.

“The patient care environment blending passionate staff, exemplary care and a commitment to overall quality of life distinguishes TIRR Memorial Hermann,” Memorial Hermann said on its website. “The facility transforms lives and inspires hope in people whose lives have been significantly altered by an illness or injury.”

According to the press release, U.S. News evaluated over 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions for its 2023-24 rankings, with just 12% garnering a Best Hospitals ranking.
