On Aug. 7, Houston and Big Spring, Texas-based carbon dioxide and compression and measurement systems provider SCS Technologies announced it has formed a partnership with non-profit organization One Tree Planted to plant one million trees within the next seven years. The company has planted more than 5,000 trees to date.

“As an advocate for the energy industry's shift towards sustainable practices, SCS Technologies takes immense pride in our partnership with One Tree Planted,” said Cody W. Johnson, the company’s chief executive officer (CEO), according to a press release. “Aligning ourselves with the positive environmental impact of One Tree Planted complements our commitment to support energy companies in their carbon neutrality goals. Every purchase of our advanced carbon dioxide compression and vapor recovery measurement equipment empowers our customers with eco-friendly operations and also contributes to the preservation of our planet by supporting tree-planting initiatives.”

The press release noted that the partnership calls for SCS to plant 100 trees with One Tree Planted for every unit it produces, with the company having planted more than 5,000 trees to date. The partnership’s objectives are four-fold: supporting global reforestation efforts, urban reforestation, empowering consumers with sustainable actions, and raising awareness about the importance of ecosystem restoration.

One Tree Planted Senior Partner Marketing Manager Ashley Lamontagne said that SCS’s partnership is essential to the non-profit’s commitment to protect and preserve the world’s forests.

“Protecting and restoring our world's forests is a top priority, and partners like SCS play a key role in helping us to make an impact for the environment,” Lamontagne said. “With SCS’s commitment to planting 100 trees for every unit they produce and to planting one million trees by 2030, we are restoring forests, creating habitat for biodiversity, and making a positive social impact.”

Per the press release, planting trees is considered one of the ways people can help the environment. Trees clean the air, filter water for human consumption, and give shelter to more than 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity, as well as provide employment to over 1.6 billion people, SCS said.
