Mexican low-cost airline Viva Aerobus has announced plans to launch a new route between George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston and Querétaro City, Mexico, starting in early December. The nonstop route is part of the airline's expansion efforts into the United States.

"We are excited to announce additional growth in the US cities where we already operate as part of our major expansion strategy in this country, encouraging passengers to take advantage of our increased connectivity, low fares, and modern fleet," said Juan Carlos Zuazua, the CEO of Viva Aerobus, in a press release on October 5th.

Zuazua also highlighted a unique benefit of the service, stating, "thanks to our partner bus companies, we provide H-Town passengers up to a 50% discount on bus tickets to discover beautiful 'magic towns' near Querétaro such as San Miguel de Allende, Bernal, and Tequisquiapan."

The new route will not only cater to American travelers but also give Mexican travelers the opportunity to explore the fourth-largest city in the United States.

According to the press release, Houston-Querétaro will be IAH's fifth nonstop connection to Mexico. Mario Diaz, the Director of Aviation for Houston Airports System (HAS), expressed his enthusiasm for the new route, stating, "Houston continues to be one of the leading markets in the U.S. by the number of Mexican destinations served, and this new service will continue to strengthen the ties between Houston and Mexico."

The announcement comes after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently reinstated Mexico's aviation safety rating to the highest level, allowing Mexican airlines to fly under a Category 1 safety rating. This development further supports the expansion of air travel between the two countries.

Starting from December 2nd, Viva Aerobus will operate the Houston-Querétaro route four days a week. Flights departing Querétaro will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 2:30 p.m., with return flights from Houston departing at 5:55 p.m.

With the introduction of this new route, Viva Aerobus aims to provide affordable and convenient travel options for passengers between Houston and Querétaro, enhancing connectivity and strengthening the relationship between the two cities.
