U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-Atascocita) praised the election of U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA) as the 56th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Crenshaw took to Twitter on Oct. 25 to express his support for Johnson, calling him a "friend and true conservative" who speaks with a true understanding of conservative philosophy. He congratulated Johnson on his election as the next Speaker of the House.

According to a report from Fox News, Johnson earned the gavel on the strength of a 220-209 House floor vote. Before Johnson was elected, the position had been filled temporarily by U.S. Representative Patrick McHenry (R-NC), who took over from the ousted California Republican Kevin McCarthy.

In a statement to Fox News, Johnson expressed his gratitude for assuming the role of Speaker of the House, calling it "the honor of a lifetime." He thanked his colleagues, friends, staff, and family for their unwavering support throughout the process.

Johnson represents a district in Louisiana that consists of nearly 760,000 residents of 16 parishes in the northwest and western regions of the state, according to his congressional biography.

Johnson's election as Speaker of the House concluded three weeks during which the House was without a Speaker. This came after U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) led a successful effort to unseat McCarthy, as reported by NBC News.

The election of Mike Johnson as the 56th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives marks a significant moment in the country's legislative leadership. As a trusted conservative and friend to many, Johnson is expected to bring his understanding of conservative philosophy to his new role.
