As deflating as the Houston Texans’ 15-13 road loss to the Carolina Panthers was, the team is determined to move on to their next opponent. The Texans return to NRG Stadium for a November 5 tilt with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which essentially concludes the National Football Conference (NFC) South slate of their 2023 schedule.

“This is a really tight knit team so we’re going to bounce back just fine,” fullback Andrew Beck said in a short video the franchise posted on social media. “We got 10 more games coming down the pipe, we’re going to be just fine.”

The Texans-Panthers game was one of the most highly anticipated of the season as it pitted the top two picks of last spring’s National Football League (NFL) Draft in Carolina’s Bryce Young and Houston’s C.J. Stroud. On paper, it appeared the Stroud and the Texans would have a field day in Charlotte two days before Halloween, but it was Young and the Panthers who earned the victory. According to a report on the Texans’ website, the matchup was more about the defenses than the rookie signal-callers.

The report said that Houston surrendered a touchdown in four Panthers trips to the red zone. The Texans were even able to snuff out a fourth-down conversion attempt at the goal line in the second quarter. Young, the former Heisman Trophy winner, won the statistical battle with Stroud and the afternoon, but not without suffering 10 quarterback hits and six sacks.

According to the Texans, defensive end Jonathan Greenard led the defense with a career-high and team-high 2.5 sacks. Stroud and Beck scored Houston’s sole pair of touchdowns against Carolina.
