Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud | Houston Texans

Never before has a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars carried so much weight for the Houston Texans than the Week 12 Thanksgiving Weekend matchup between the American Football Conference (AFC) South rivals. This crucial game held significant playoff implications, with a win potentially easing the Texan's path to postseason while a loss would have made their journey more difficult.

The Texans put up a valiant fight but unfortunately fell short. According to a report on the Texans’ website, C.J. Stroud continued his meteoric rise in the National Football League (NFL) with a 304-passing yard, two-score performance against Jacksonville.
The report said that unlike against the Arizona Cardinals, the 2023 second overall pick from Ohio State University didn’t throw an interception.

Despite this disappointing result, there were still some standout performances on the Texan's side. As had been the case all season, one of Stroud’s touchdown passes went to fellow rookie Tank Dell, prompting the franchise’s X account to say the duo is the first rookie quarterback/wide receiver duo in more than a decade to connect for seven touchdowns.
Dell said in the team’s report that he was amazed by how his field general was able to extend plays with a very hungry Jaguars defense bearing down on him.

Moving forward after this loss presents new challenges for both Houston and their AFC South competitors. The loss now puts Texans two games behind Jacksonville and also brings Indianapolis Colts within striking distance of squeezing into Wild Card spot according to Yahoo Sports.
Houston is slated to host Denver Broncos on Dec. 3, a game NFL pushed forward from 3:25 p.m. to noon in order to attract more viewers.
