Sysco introduces 'One Planet. One Table.'

Sysco Corporation recently announced the launch of its One Planet. One Table. initiative, featuring a vast selection of over 3,000 items across 15 categories. These products adhere to more than 20 sustainability certifications and standards, aligning with Sysco's commitment to sustainability in areas like seafood, fresh produce, and plant-based alternative proteins. This move comes as part of Sysco's broader strategy to prioritize environmentally conscious practices in its operations.

Under this initiative, Sysco aims to make significant strides towards promoting sustainable consumption. The One Planet. One Table. products exemplify are crafted with a focus on minimizing waste through reusability, recyclability, and compostability, emphasize source reduction for a more sustainable future, according to One Planet. Sysco's commitment to sustainability is also reflected in their efforts to cater to an evolving market demand. "At Sysco, we're taking action to protect the health of our one and only planet. We have a growing market of customers looking for more sustainable products. In addition to internal initiatives, partnership building forms a critical part of Sysco’s approach towards environmental stewardship. "We are cultivating partnerships and encouraging others to join us at the table in solving climate and sustainability challenges together," said Victoria Guitierrez, Sysco’s Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer, according to a press release by Sysco Corporation. "Sysco is leveraging its scale and position at the center of the food ecosystem to help drive change in a way that will compel others to follow. By making it easier for customers to discover and shop for more sustainable options, we can increase demand and inspire more suppliers to produce products more sustainably."

Sysco's sustainability initiatives also extend to corporate philanthropy, as evidenced in their recent reports. Additionally, Sysco released its 2023 Sustainability Report and DEI report, revealing that Sysco has donated over 17 million meals globally with an over $280 million contribution toward the company's $500 million Global Good Goal, according to a press release by Sysco Corporation.
