The University of Houston (UH) announced its C. T. Bauer College of Business is introducing a new course, "The Entrepreneurial Genius of Taylor Swift," on the business and entrepreneurship strategies of Taylor Swift. Students can enroll in this unique entrepreneurship course for the upcoming academic year. The program, to be taught by Professor Kelly McCormick, aims to explore and dissect the effective business tactics utilized by global music star Taylor Swift.

The UH has shared some intriguing details about this forthcoming course. The course will feature sessions themed around various albums and eras of her career, accompanied by friendship bracelet gifts, surprise songs, and hidden "Easter eggs" in the class content. Professor of Practice and Managing Director for the university's startup accelerator RED Labs, Kelly McCormick, will teach the upcoming course, according to a press release by UH.

As stated by McCormick herself, appreciation for Taylor Swift's music is not a prerequisite for benefitting from the lessons this course offers. "You definitely don’t have to be a hardcore fan — a Swiftie — to learn and appreciate the entrepreneurial genius that has made Taylor Swift an international phenomenon," said McCormick, according to a press release by UH.

In detailing further about what students stand to gain from this class, "The number one business lesson students can learn from Taylor is the way she treats her fans," said McCormick, according to a press release by UH. "She is beloved because she truly does so much to make sure they are happy, appreciated and feel like they are important to her. If every company acted that way about their customers — they’d have way more customers."

Besides this innovative class, McCormick has an extensive history of fostering entrepreneurial spirit among students. McCormick teaches various startup-focused classes, such as Introduction to Technology Entrepreneurship, Women in Entrepreneurship, Arts & Entrepreneurship, and the RED Labs accelerator course. She focuses on helping students and faculty launch startups. Under her management, RED Labs expanded to create RED Launch, a small business accelerator for students with side hustles, according to the Search & Directory webpage provided by UH.

This new course aligns perfectly with the mission of the C. T. Bauer College of Business at UH. The mission of the C. T. Bauer College of Business is to provide accessible and affordable education centered around students, incorporating cutting-edge knowledge, research, and practical applications in the real world, according to the About webpage provided by UH.
