Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott recently took part in a Wreaths Across America event at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Governor Abbott has participated in the wreath-laying ceremony.

In a statement, Abbott reminisced about his brother, Bud, who served in the Navy for two decades. "I’m proud of his service to our country and the service of so many brave men and women like him," said Abbott. "By laying these wreaths, we acknowledge the sacrifice of our veterans, and we honor those who still serve the greatest nation in the history of the world."

During this solemn occasion, Abbott also recognized 12-year-old Cedar Park native Remmer Machamer for his commendable efforts towards honoring veterans through Wreaths Across America. The release highlighted that Machamer has successfully raised over $75,000 for this non-profit organization over more than five years.

Established in 2007, Wreaths Across America aims to honor fallen veterans nationwide and foster a sense of pride among younger generations.
