Governor Greg Abbott spoke at the 2024 NAPE Summit in Houston, where he championed Texas' energy industry and discussed ways to defend it from federal government overreach. The Governor was joined by Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt during a fireside chat moderated by Jacki Deason.

During the chat, Governor Abbott emphasized Texas' role in supplying the world with energy, stating, "Ever since Spindletop blew, Texas has been supplying the world with the energy they need to fuel their cars, power their homes, and produce the products we all rely upon." He also highlighted Texas as the leading state in oil and gas production, with the state's share of the United States output rising to more than 42% for oil and nearly 30% for natural gas last year.

Governor Abbott criticized the Biden Administration for imposing ESG mandates on American businesses, stating, "President Biden needs to quit meddling with the very business that helped America become the dominant world power we are today." He further emphasized the need for new leadership that supports energy-producing states like Texas and Oklahoma.

The Governor also discussed recent legislation he signed into law, including the creation of the Texas Energy Fund. This fund provides loans and grants to finance or incentivize the construction, maintenance, modernization, and operation of electric generating facilities, ensuring long-term, reliable power generation for Texans.

In addition to legislative efforts, Governor Abbott highlighted the achievements of Texas' energy industry, including record-breaking crude oil production, natural gas production, and natural gas liquids production. He also shared details of his recent economic development mission to India, where he met with energy companies to foster collaboration between Texas and India.

Governor Abbott's speech at the NAPE Summit underscored his commitment to supporting and promoting the Texas energy industry. As the state continues to lead in oil and gas production, the Governor advocates for policies that protect the industry from unnecessary regulations and interference, allowing Texas and other energy-producing states to power the world with American-made energy.
