HISD to kick off hiring season with special event

The HISD Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team will be hosting the Campus Hiring Kickoff event on Saturday, February 24th, at Sharpstown High School. This event aims to provide K-12 educators with an opportunity to learn about Team HISD and the important work being done in the District.

Superintendent Mike Miles will be giving a presentation on Destination 2035, highlighting the goals and vision for HISD's future. Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a panel discussion and Q&A session with school and District leaders, allowing them to gain valuable insights and information.

One of the highlights of the event will be the opportunity to see the New Education System (NES) instructional model in action. Live demonstrations will showcase the innovative teaching methods and strategies being implemented in HISD classrooms.

The Campus Hiring Kickoff is particularly geared towards individuals interested in various positions within HISD, including teachers, teacher apprentices, learning coaches, assistant principals, and counselors. A job fair will also be held for both current and future openings, providing attendees with the chance to explore potential employment opportunities.

In order to attend the event, interested individuals must register online. Once registered, attendees will receive further details about the event via email. It is important to note that external applicants who have not yet submitted an online application must do so and complete the necessary steps prior to attending the event. Failure to do so may result in delays or prevent schools from extending offers.

For internal HISD applicants, the Campus Hiring Kickoff serves as an opportunity to learn more about the NES and network for potential opportunities within HISD campuses. However, current district employees in Chapter 21 contract positions are limited to connecting with potential HISD campuses for the 2024-2025 school year and must adhere to the designated Transfer Period window scheduled for spring 2024.
