Fifty-two HISD students were finalists, 12 were winners, and all were honored with a special reception at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's School Art Program. The honorees and their families were invited to view their artwork, with Fine Arts Curriculum Coordinator Chandel Bonner-Hancock emphasizing, "The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a huge contributor of scholarships, and not only that, but a platform of the arts, not just performing arts, but visual arts."

Art students dedicated months of hard work to create pieces for the program, with thousands of artworks displayed and auctioned at HLSR over the years. More than 2 million dollars in scholarships have been awarded to HISD students through this initiative. Bonner-Hancock highlighted the importance of HLSR's support, stating, "It's something that has been supported for many years, not just through financial assistance for our students, but by showcasing and honoring the work that they do."

The art auction at the rodeo provides an avenue for student artists to showcase their talents and potentially sell their pieces for a guaranteed premium. Any proceeds exceeding the premium cap go towards HLSR's Education Fund. This fund supports scholarship and grant recipients, furthering the organization's commitment to fostering artistic talent among students.

The winning rodeo art pieces will be exhibited at the Hayloft Gallery inside the NRG Center from February 22 to March 17. The event serves as a testament to the dedication and creativity of HISD's student artists.
