Governor Greg Abbott of Texas continues to lead efforts in securing the state's border with Mexico. Under Operation Lone Star, a multi-agency initiative, over 506,500 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 41,200 criminal arrests have been made. Governor Abbott highlighted the success of the Texas National Guard in installing over 100 miles of razor wire along the border, stating, "I have to applaud our National Guard for stepping up and laying down that more than 100 miles of razor wire." He emphasized Texas as the sole state taking significant action against illegal immigration.

In response to President Joe Biden's border policies, Governor Abbott expressed frustration, pointing out that Texas is enforcing laws passed by Congress to secure the border. He stated, "It's frustrating and astonishing that what Texas is trying to do is enforce those three laws passed by Congress." Additionally, Governor Abbott criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams for not prioritizing community safety, saying, "Anytime the Mayor opens his mouth, he needs to be talking about ways he can make his communities safer for his fellow New Yorkers, as opposed to these other gimmicks."

Border Czar Banks affirmed that Texas will build upon the success of Operation Lone Star. He outlined efforts to enhance border security infrastructure, including anti-climb barriers, razor wire, and marine buoy barriers. Governor Abbott shared updates on ongoing border wall construction in Maverick County, emphasizing the state's commitment to addressing the border crisis.

Recent incidents involving human smugglers were also reported. A teenage girl from Edinburg, Texas, and a smuggler from Houston were arrested for smuggling individuals across the border. The Texas National Guard deployed additional razor wire in El Paso and added air boats to their fleet for patrolling the Rio Grande River.

As Texas remains steadfast in its border security efforts, Governor Abbott and state agencies continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of Texans and Americans nationwide.
