Conroe firefighters recently returned from Louisiana where they were helping with recovery efforts following Hurricane Ida and were welcomed back on social media by U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady.

A Republican, Brady represents Texas' Eighth Congressional District, which includes Conroe.

"Very proud to see #TX08's own first responders helping those in need!" Brady said in his  Twitter post.

Brady's Twitter post also highlighted Conroe Fire Department Assistance Chief Michael Legoundes' comment in local coverage about the firefighters' efforts in Louisiana.

"Everybody needs help sometimes," Legoundes said in a news story published Tuesday, Oct. 5, in The Courier of Montgomery County. "We're trying to do our part to provide help to people when they need it."

Brady has represented the state's eighth congressional district since 1997. In April, Brady said in remarks during a Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Economic Outlook Conference that he will not run for a 14th term and will retire next year.

The eighth congressional district includes Montgomery and Walker counties, and parts of Harris County, including most northern outlying areas of metro Houston.

Conroe Firefighters returned from a month-long deployment in southeastern Louisiana where they filled in for Louisiana firefighters who had been impacted by Hurricane Ida, according to The Courier's news story.

"We deployed our crews there to help them out, so that they could take care of themselves and their families," Legoudes said in the news story. He added that a fire engine was part of the deployment.

Four Conroe Firefighters responded to 911 calls in the St. Charles Parish area between Aug. 30 and Sept. 20, and an additional four firefighters were deployed through Sept. 27.
