A Houston mother is grateful toward a delivery driver for helping her following a carjacking, per a report from Houston ABC affiliate KTRK

The woman, whom the station reported requested anonymity for safety reasons, experienced the unthinkable for a parent late last month when an unknown man took her vehicle with her two small children inside from a Murphy Express gas station on South Post Oak Road.

KTRK reported Jane Doe had just picked up the eldest child, a six-year-old with autism, from school at the time of the incident.

A routine trip to fill up her tank then turned into what was then a horrific moment for Doe.

"I can't even explain what I felt," she recalled. "Just pure terror."

According to the report, security footage captured the carjacker in question drive off to a nearby neighborhood.

A stranger at the Murphy Express heard the mother’s screams for help and offered to help her track down the suspect, but the pair couldn’t find her vehicle.

The woman further recounted to KTRK that she would learn her children were left behind in the neighborhood and were discovered by a passing Fed Ex worker.

The deliveryman took the kids, who were reportedly covered with mud and shivering, to a nearby school, contacted authorities, and stayed with them until they were reunited with their mother.

"I hope God blesses him in every single way," Doe told KTRK.

While the woman is grateful her children were returned to her, the station reported, the suspect remains on the loose.

"I want him held accountable to the highest extent … I want him to remember my son telling him, 'I want my mommy. I want my mommy,’” she said in the report.

Her vehicle was eventually retrieved, but the man allegedly made off with the contents inside.

According to the station, anyone with information on the incident is urged to submit a tip to the Crime Stoppers website.
