A night of fun became one of sorrow when a post-Taylor Swift concert traffic accident on Friday claimed the life of a 20-year-old man, Houston-based media outlets reported.

Jacob Lewis and his sister had just left NRG Stadium where they saw the 33-year-old Swift perform the first show of her three-day Bayou City residency when they encountered car trouble on the Southwest Freeway.

Lewis was attempting to push the vehicle when he was fatally struck by an alleged drunk driver, Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported.

A tow truck driver who witnessed the incident gave chase to the suspect – identified as 34-year-old Alan Bryant – before police were called and arrested him somewhere in Midtown Houston, according to KHOU.

The siblings’ father, Steve Lewis, recalled the accident’s horrific beginning.

"You know, to make it worse, the driver (Bryant) got out, helped my daughter get my son out from under his car, saw what had happened and got in his car and left," the elder Lewis told KHOU.

Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported that Lewis died at the scene while April Bancroft sustained minor bruises and scrapes.

“It was the night I had been looking forward to for a very long time and turned for the absolute worst,” Bancroft told KPRC. “What I hope will be the worst thing I have to live through.”

According to the station, Lewis’ father praised the tow truck operator’s heroism.

KPRC reported that authorities arrested and charged Bryant with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and failure to stop and render aid.

Citing court records, the station reported it was the third time Bryant was arrested for DWI.

Steve Lewis remembered his son as an avid music theater fan who loved playing video games, KHOU reported.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help defray funeral costs.
