Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is battling a case of viral pneumonia, a situation that has led him to limit his schedule and recover from home, according to an announcement from his office. "He is recovering and working from home," the press release stated.

In the lieutenant governor’s release, it was noted that members of the upper chamber of the Texas Legislature stand ready to deal with any issues Gov. Greg Abbott might add to the agenda of a possible fourth special session of the 88th Legislature.

A report by Austin FOX station KTBC News indicated that on Nov. 6, the Texas Senate was set to discuss border security legislation. As per this report, House Bill (HB) 4 aims at categorizing illegal entry into Texas from Mexico as a state crime and empowers law enforcement officials either to repatriate migrants or arrest them if they refuse to comply.

Furthermore, in Oct., Senate had passed a school voucher bill following the commencement of the third special session. Citing information from The Office of the Texas Governor, Austin Journal reported that Gov. Abbott has enlarged his agenda for further school finance matters such as teacher pay increases, school safety measures, and special education following consultations with Lt. Gov. Patrick and Speaker Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont) of Texas House Representatives.
